Fear

Word of the Day: Fear

Verse of the Day: “But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.”

‭‭John‬ ‭6:20‬

Such a powerful verse. “It is I; be not afraid”. By simply saying it was Him, He removed fear. Amazing!

So why do we struggle with fear?

There are so many strong men in the Bible that have overcome fear. There is also great fear in the Bible among many. Battles, war, affliction, atonement and God all provided fear.

Jesus provided calm through love and trust. Those who trust in Him are able to overcome their fear - but it is at that exact point of trust where we overcome the fear.

I love the marketable phrase “ let your faith be bigger than your fear”. Easier said than done my friend.

Sure there are people with great faith, and they also have great fear. You have to replace your fear with faith. It is not merely enough to have both. Because if you have a little fear and much faith, you still have fear.

It is definitely a marathon and not a sprint. There are so many causes of fear in our world. Family issues, health, personal affliction (sin), addictions, financial burdens, political scaredom and so much more. Even the unknown can cause crippling fear.

But if we trust in the Lord then why do we continue to fear these things? Anxiety and worry is a part of our everyday life. If we are healthy, financially secure and have nothing crazy going on in our life, our fear is minimal and our trust is easy.

It is growth. The closer we grow to God, the less our worry and fear, everything else is dependent on the world. The further we separate from God the more our worry. And the more we depend on what the world offers to replace that fear

If we can fix our eyes on God as he walks toward our boat in rough waters - we can have peace and He will help us replace our fears.

We have to learn to trust Him. And this is something I struggle with everyday. But as I learn not to stop praying or reading or going to church I grow my relationship with Him. And with any relationship that you want to be in, you learn to love and trust.
