Belief

Word of the Day: Belief

Verse of the Day: “If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?”

‭‭John‬ ‭3:12‬

Belief is defined as - The mental act, condition or habit of placing confidence or trust in someone.

I love this verse. I love the way Jesus tells Nicodemus, you can’t even believe me when I tell you about things here on earth and you think you’ll believe me about heaven?

Belief is that critical moment. It’s the point where it all makes sense. It’s commitment. It’s the turning point. There are two positions in faith, unbelief and belief. There are those who believe and those who don’t.

I love what Ravi Zaccharias said to an atheist once - He asked the atheist if he believed in God and the atheist said “no I do not believe in God”. And then Ravi said that the mere fact that you say His name is recognition that He exists.  I probably messed that up but I think it’s close.

Can you have doubt and believe or believe and have doubt? Yes I believe you can (see what I did there).

It is much more difficult for the human nature to believe in things they cannot see. Someone can tell you an amazing story and sometimes there is a shadow of doubt or a total eclipse of doubt. It’s about the relationship.

But the more our relationship grows the closer we get and the more our belief is strengthened. This is true in relationships and our walk with God.

You can’t just expect belief to be present - that’s being naive. Belief is based on the validity of something. Belief on something that is generally not seen is called faith. Reading God’s word, surrounding yourself with Christians and going to church will build your relationship with Christ and strengthen your belief. It’s one thing to say you believe, it’s another to truly and actually believe with your entire soul.

Take time today to build your relationship with God. Stop often and pray. Read the verses below and strengthen your belief in God.

“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”

‭‭James‬ ‭2:19‬

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:9‬

Luke 22:67-71

John 1:7
