Word of the Day: Followers

Verse of the Day: 1 Corinthians 11:1

“Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.”

Who or what do you follow?  

I remember growing up there were trends. These trends turned into things we did, what we went after and influenced who we were. 

Trends in clothing. Trendy sayings. Trendy hobbies. Trendy TV shows. They were “things” we followed. We went after what was popular. 

What would it take for you to go after God? Or to follow Jesus Christ?

For a lifetime I felt like I was good, even though I didn’t do good things. I didn’t follow Christ. 

Don’t get me wrong, I still struggle today, but nowhere near the way I struggled before. Now I can see my struggles, before I couldn’t or didn’t want to. 

How do you follow Christ? My brother put it simply one day -

Make Jesus Christ your personal savior, get on your knees and pray, start reading the Bible and get in church. Of course this isn’t everything but it’s where I needed to start. 

It takes turning sacrifice into commitment. Devotion into a relationship. And prayer into a conversation and walk with God. This is how we follow Christ. And we do it intentionally. 

Step away from the things that don’t matter and turn toward the One that does.
