Satisfaction Guaranteed

Satisfaction Guaranteed

It used to be, for me, that after a hot day of cutting grass and chores outside that I would find refreshment in an ice cold beer.

Well soon after that beer came more beers and bad decisions, foggy memory, slurred speech and repeated bad behavior.

In the moment it seemed like satisfaction, but it definitely wasn’t lasting. In fact, the only thing lasting about it was the guilt and consequences that came along with it.

It’s amazing, what we find refreshing after we turn ourselves over to Jesus. It’s a satisfaction that is guaranteed.

There is no maybe, no guilt, no bad decisions and it’s definitely a satisfaction that is long lasting.

“Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: but whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

‭‭John‬ ‭4:13-14‬

I’m reminded daily of what I find satisfaction and comfort in now, not before. My past is still a reminder. But it’s a reminder of where I am now, not where I was.

I’ve lived that life, not proudly, but I survived it.

I survived it to find that a life with Jesus Christ at the center of it is so much more desirable and has much more satisfaction to it.

There is truth now, not lies. There is lasting satisfaction, not temporary fulfillment. There is reward, not guilt.

Jesus is The Water, the only water you will ever need where you will never thirst.

The parable of the Samaritan woman at the well is one of my favorite stories in the Bible. It’s not only about when and where we can worship Jesus Christ. It’s about Jesus being the only desire we should have and that placing Him at the center of your life will be everlasting.

A relationship with Jesus is one that will draw every other relationship in your life closer, as long as He is at the center of it.

You have to desire this relationship. You have to pursue it.

Many other people in your life can want you to have this relationship with Him, but it won’t work like that. You have to want it. You have to start it. And you have to maintain it.

God will always love you.

You have to live in His Will. You have to be obedient to Him. And you have to die to your desires outside of God.

These aren’t things you are giving up, they are things you are grabbing ahold of that will guarantee satisfaction.  When you place God at the front of your life, you are changing your life for the better.

“The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.”

‭‭John‬ ‭4:25-26‬

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

‭‭James‬ ‭4:7‬

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:15‬
