Guest Devotion written by: Bethany Myers
Job 23:10 “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.”
To weld is “to fasten two pieces of metal together by softening with heat and applying pressure.”
Now, I have never welded anything, but I can imagine this is an extremely tedious, and almost painful process. The amount of time and effort these craftsmen put into their work is incredible!
This reminded me of our Christian walk. Our Creator God is the ultimate craftsman, and we are the metal in desperate need of repair, change, and improvement. The trials of life, the hurts, the pains, the inescapable situations that surround us can feel like a fire closing in on us!
No matter how far we run, no matter where we go it still looms over us like a dark cloud about to surround us!
This pressure, this cloud, this fire, is not meant to destroy us but meant to make us rely on our God. He is the one who will never leave, and will never fail us.
Just as a welder must first put the metal through terrible heat, and what seems like unbearable pressure in order for it to come out a masterpiece, so must Christ try us.
When we feel like no one understands, or no one cares, may we be able to say with Job “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.”
My friends, you are so loved by your Creator!
