Judgement
Word of the Day: Judgement
Verse of the Day: “So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”
John 8:7
One of my favorite stories in the Bible. What an amazing teacher! This story teaches about forgiveness but not only forgiveness, judgement. Jesus was being tricked by the Pharisees and not only did he thwart their plan, he taught them a lesson through conviction.
I am so guilty of pointing out mistakes from someone else, or complaining about this or that - someone’s driving, their attitude, etc. Its easy to complain or judge. But it is also just as easy to compliment or commend.
I often sit and think about my sin - the things I’ve done. It’s heavy at times. But my God is amazing and He forgives. His is the only forgiveness I seek. I pray for the people in my life affected by the things I’ve done. I pray that God will strengthen their faith and soften their hearts.
Others will judge me as if they have never sinned. To those I say, to those among you without sin, be the first to cast the stone. It would be very hard to cast that stone for many.
I have to remember the lesson here is forgiveness and compassion, not pointing out that others sin. It’s to forgive them and to truly have compassion with them. We should replace our judgement of others with compassion.
It’s easier to judge someone for the bad things in their life instead of lifting them up for the good things they have done. It’s so easy to talk negatively about someone- when we should be encouraging or supportive.
“Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.”
John 8:15
“The Lord therefore be judge, and judge between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thine hand.”
1 Samuel 24:15
Matthew 7:1
John 12:47
