Worth
Word of the Day: Worth
Verse of the Day: “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an example.”
Philippians 3:14-17
Worth - The quality that renders something desirable, useful or valuable.
If someone gave you a tennis ball and said if you can hold this ball for 30 days I’ll give you a thousand dollars. You must hold it in one of your hands without losing touch with it or letting it go. Would you question it? Would you do it? Would you do it for $10? Is $1,000 enough?
Now if someone said if you hold onto the faith of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I’ll give you everlasting life and it’s already paid for. Would you do it? Would you question it? Is it enough? Did it cost you anything?
It’s funny that we place a value on everything. How much is my time worth? How much did that cost? Can we afford it?
In reality, it’s all temporal and worldly. And it’s all provided by God, wether you believe that or not.
Having faith, believing in God, placing God at the front of your life and making Godly decisions for your family are absolutely Free! They cost nothing! Yet many people use every excuse in the book not to and they have no good reason. They will say things like I had a bad experience with religion, like growing up in a Christian home or going to a Christian school. Or how about, God let me down or God doesn’t like me. Or I’ve sinned too much. They are all excuses.
Yet people will spend 60 hours a week working at a job and doing chores at home, 20 hours a week on hobbies, 50 hours a week sleeping, 5 hours a week socializing, 21 hours a week eating, showering and grooming, and another 10 hours a week on the phone, texting or on social media. That’s 166 hours out of a 168 hour week. And these are averages.
So how much is God worth your time? It’s a really hard question to answer.
I won’t even do the breakdown of finances. There are so many people that don’t even tithe - even though it’s biblical! And if they do, it’s not consistent or structured the way it’s commanded in the Bible. And since the whole COVID thing - people won’t even go to church, because theirs is still closed or they don’t want to be around other people. People make so many excuses, lowering the value of God’s worth.
We have lowered the worth of God by how much time we give Him. It’s a reality check. You can’t keep saying God is important - that He’s worth everything to you, and act like He isn’t. Just when you think you’ve done enough, do more!
Can you imagine if every one of your friends, and you, talked about their faith with each other? Jesus Christ? their church? the Bible? and how they pray? Imagine if they did more of that and less gossiping, coveting and slandering or posting, liking and viewing.
If you spent more time on going to church, reading the Bible and praying to God, even for 30 days - it. will. change. your. life. Forever!!!!!!
We will commit to a diet for 30 days, but not Jesus.
And my final thought is this, what we’re you worth to Jesus? To God?
Change your routine, change your habits and change your life.
