Sinner!
Sinner!
“Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (for until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.”
Romans 5:12-13
Aren’t you glad the penalty for sin has been paid by the blood of Jesus Christ? Otherwise the penalty was death! I for one, certainly am glad that my son debt was paid for. And I won’t let one drop of that blood go to waste.
Your sin may look and feel completely different than mine. Maybe it’s not as bad, maybe you have better control over it or maybe, just maybe, you’ve learned to deal with it.
When Paul wrote to the Romans, he professed to them about his past sins and his torment with what he had done. He then continued to write of the daily struggles he was living with - his sinful flesh.
Sin is a part of our human nature. Our bad side to the good we all have in us. It’s our temptations, our desires and our cravings. Not all of these are evil, but most are.
If we live by constantly focusing on our sin, we can’t expect others to move past it.
We can’t continue to live in our sin. This is the hardest part. We focus so much on the sin, that we can’t get out from under it. Keeping our sin alive is our doing, not God’s.
Our sin isn’t what defines us, it is what declares us.
If we continue to live in sin, without Christ, we are declared lost.
Because of our sin, Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself for us. This declared us redeemed.
When we put our faith in Christ for our lives, living for Him, we are declared justified.
As we begin to separate ourselves from this world, we are declared sanctified.
When we die and go to Heaven as Children of God, we are declared glorified.
Don’t focus on your sin and let it define you. Rejoice in the mercy and grace of God.
We will always struggle with sin emotionally because we live to be in the Will of God.
Don’t let it be the focus of your life.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.”
Romans 8:1-2, 14-17
