Is There Hope?
Is There Hope?
“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”
1 Peter 3:15
The verse above refers to being a witness. A witness is someone that can testify about something they observed take place and they can usually provide proof about what they saw.
Generally this talk is about a crime that has occurred and you have a witness to it. In the verse above it is personal testimony of what God has done in your life. It’s an amazing verse that can tell an equally amazing story.
The Bible provides all the proof you will ever need to show people how you live your life.
Peter says that we should be ready always to talk about our salvation and the holiness of God in our hearts. When we hold God in our hearts it begins a change in us. We should be prepared to talk to others about this change.
I admit, I sometimes get overzealous about what God has done in my life. It amazes me that God continues His work through me. I take no credit for what God has done in me. And this is just a small part. I am truly amazed at what God has done in my wife and my sons life. We personally can’t take credit for these changes, because without God, where would we be?
This is why we owe it to Him to tell everyone who asks. And when they ask we should be reverent in our display of admiration for God. This is why Peter talks about having our answer display meekness and fear. It isn’t a whimpy answer. It isn’t that we should be shy and discouraged. It is an answer that is humbling and earnest. One of devotion.
Witnessing shouldn’t be a sales pitch. God doesn’t need us to convince anyone on His behalf. What He deserves is the Glory for all that has been done for us.
Why wouldn’t you want to tell others about what God has done in your life? Give someone an example of the changes in your life. You can be the hope for someone else.
Even though my situation is scary to me and my family, and has some unknown possible outcomes, we turn to God. God has been the one thing that has held our family together. The faith we have in Him is far better than the faith we hold for ourselves or the world.
Not every single day is going to be pain free, full of blessings and with miracles abounding. A life with God will be a life where you put more good and Godly things in it and less of the worldly and bad things.
Tell people about how God has changed your life, it just might change theirs. There is hope and it is found in Jesus Christ.
The Bible has so many great examples of how God has worked in people’s lives. You’ll never know unless you start reading it. My suggestion to you if you’ve never picked up a Bible, start in Matthew. It’s a great story.
“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”
