Perfect Peace

Perfect Peace

Verse of the Day: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭26:3‬

What is perfect peace? Some would say it’s being trouble free, without worry, no frustrations or maybe even financial freedom. Some would say it’s family. Or having joy.

I personally struggle with peace. I think peace is at the center of every other emotion. But the peace I am trying to attain is the peace of God. Peace is void of happiness or sadness. Think of peace as not having the effort of emotion. Experts say there is stress even in happiness.

Can you imagine keeping your mind on God? And trusting Him for everything?  Not just saying it, but actually doing it? Yes, that would provide perfect peace. If you could keep your thoughts on God all the time, there would peace. Nearly impossible to do, so we strive to get as close as possible. How can we do that you ask?

Go to church, pray, stay in Gods word and surround yourself with like-minded believers. All of these are biblical commands. Hard to do, but not impossible.  There will be roadblocks, distractions and inconveniences that will attempt to prevent you. Sicknesses will come. People will change plans. Things will happen that will try to disrupt your peace.

When these things happen they are a call to get closer to God. One of the most positive things in my life was when I turned to God and found a Bible-preaching church. Take all the other fluff away from why you go to church. Go to church to hear God’s words preached to you. Pray on this preaching. And surround yourself with people who believe the same things. This will encourage peace in your life.

After a lifetime of disruption I am learning to live with peace and not chaos.  Sometimes people enjoy or thrive off crazy things going on all the time. Is that really good? I used to think so. But now peace is important. It is important to place God at the center of everything in your life (your marriage, your family, your friendships).

Take a look at your life. Do you really have peace? Are you always pointing out the negative? Do you always find something going wrong? Are you constantly complaining?

Read the verse above and think about the words.  The verse simply says to Stay your mind on Him. Not keep. It’s not a possession. It’s a place. Stay there and you will find peace.

Stay your mind on God and give your trust to Him, there you will find your perfect peace.

Pick up your cross today!

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
