Careless or Care Less

Careless or Care Less

“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:15‬

It’s interesting that in a world so full of craziness, people seem to care less about the things that should be important. Or we’ve just become so careless that it appears that we don’t care anymore.

I hear more conversations about politics, the Super Bowl and hunting than anything else. The news is full of distortion, yet we still watch intently. And even though the Bible says not to be tailbearers, we gossip abundantly on a daily basis. Our spirits have broken and our outlook has weakened. We’ve become so preoccupied with distractions they aren’t distractions anymore. They have become a lifestyle.

Listen, I’m no better. I love a good conversation about welding,  blacksmithing or training dogs. And who doesn’t enjoy a juicy scoop on someone else?

I mean seriously, can we talk about God non-stop? Every day? All day?

“Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭26:20‬

Not only can we, we should. Do you know the glory it brings to God to place Him at the center of everything that we do?  Did you know that God has made it possible for you to achieve what you’ve received?

“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭9:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Instead, we’d rather tell people of our accomplishments and our success. We’d rather share someone else’s shameful story. And consuming our lives with temporary satisfactions pacify us daily.

By the way, none of what we have would be possible without Him.

Our talents, success and accomplishments are only possible because of our amazing God. There are so many people who believe there is a God, but don’t believe on our God.

And why not?

Because we’ve done a horrible job validating what he’s done in our lives. After all, we hold a first-person account. We have seen first hand what God has done. Yet, sadly, we tell no one. Days and weeks go by and we don’t share.

We sit and smugly place ourselves at the center of it all, we are the reason things are accomplished and that WE are what has made it all happen. We are only the mechanism.  We are a very very small piece of any of it. Look around the world. Think about all the people that think the same way.

I see the social media posts; the ones that center on the relationships, your accomplishments and the fruits of your labor. And no one mentions God. We’ve become a society enamored in ourselves and what we have or what we think wouldn’t be possible without us.

Where is your glory to God? Is it some bible verse in your profile? Is it one post out of the 985 that you’ve shared?

Have we started to be careless in our adoration and admiration of God? Or do we just care less than the other things in our life?

Put God back at the front of your life. Center your family, friends and career around God. Tell them what He has done in your life.

People need to hear from you what God has been able to do through you. It’s not the other way around.

Tell them about the strength he’s given you in difficult times. Tell them about the healing. The answered prayers. The repaired relationships. The blessings.

God has worked in your life. And if you’ll take the time to share Him with someone else, He can work in theirs.

“A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:35-37‬

“And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.”

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭16:35‬
