Help Wanted
Help Wanted
“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
1 Peter 4:10
The title has become synonymous with a place, company or corporation that has a job opening. It is a notice of hiring.
Usually the only time a company is hiring is when someone has left. Either through retirement, downsizing, promotion, moving on or disciplinary issues.
This revolution in employment practices is often called the rotating door.
Just imagine the number of people that come and go from large companies. Some companies I worked for had a 14% or higher turnover rate. That meant that 14% of the total number of employees were not expected to stay through the month. On a hundred employees, that was 14. For a small business, that’s pretty high. Newer employees were usually the first to leave, within the first six months.
Heaven has had a Help Wanted sign posted and it’s been there since Jesus departed the earth (the ascension).
Being a Christian is a serious service with serious responsibilities. Our description is lengthy and involved. It’s simple to serve though; believe in Jesus Christ as your Savior, put your faith in Him. You will have eternal salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. And, spread the Good News (the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all the world).
However like most places of employment, 20% of the Christians will serve 80% of the world. Some will think that they have guaranteed salvation already, so why do anything. Our single largest responsibility is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This requires hard work, dedication and sacrifice. And it requires that everyone pull their weight (do their service).
“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.”
1 Peter 4:12-13
Earths turnover rate of Christians spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ is much much larger than 14%. Every time someone leaves the earth we have a job opening.
So companies employ best practices for workforce retention (keeping employees). The biggest reason employees leave a job is morale. And in business, workplace injuries are the biggest reflection of low morale.
People drop out of Christianity in much of the same way. Of course they won’t lose their salvation unless they turn away from God, but people do leave their service (witnessing to others) and they do leave their churches. Really, because of morale related to injuries (hurt feelings).
Companies try to retain people by having high standards through policy and procedures (doctrine). Some companies have horrible standards which just leads to their high turnover rate. Our policy is the best their is. Every great company has a great policy and procedure manual - ours is the Bible.
Our position as a Christian is very unique. Not everyone will want to do it. Not everyone will do it. And unfortunately that will make for a horrible retirement (eternity in a lake of fire).
And we have competition that will try and steal our employees (satan). He wants our employees to come and work for him. He will do anything. He employs some very ruthless hiring and retention techniques. It’s the second largest company out there.
Heaven needs more qualified people (Christians) to spread The Gospel here on earth and get the word out for hiring. Heaven has an unlimited number of job openings and the sign will always be up.
There are requirements to serve here, like commitment, sacrifice, loyalty, perseverance, discipline, humility and obedience, to name a few.
There is top notch leadership (pastor/shepherd) at this place. There are great benefits (eternal salvation) and even great employees (the church) that you’ll be surrounded with every day. We are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Even on holidays. And we are always available.
This is the top company to serve. Because going to work as a Christian is a lifestyle, not a job. You see you can’t work here. You serve at this place. You serve at this place because there is none other like it in the world. It IS the place.
“Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”
1 Peter 4:16
Our place has an open door policy. This means we can come to God, always, no matter what. Nothing is too big or too small. He will always be there for us. And His door is always open.
We also take anyone and everyone to serve here. Every single person has the ability to serve Jesus Christ. We are an equal opportunity service
Take your service seriously. There are people, that if they knew about your service, they would love to do the same thing. It isn’t going to be easy, if it was, you wouldn’t have to do a thing. You should be proud of your service - others should know right away what you do. And there are many ways to serve. There are many many positions available (missions, pastoral, the church).
So, no matter where you decide to serve your God, give it everything you have. Be proud of what you do, share it with others and be the best you can be here.
Here are a couple of tips to make your service the best in the world;
Take the time to tell others about Jesus Christ.
Pray daily that God will give you the tools you need to serve Him.
Attend church.
Surround yourself with like-minded Christians.
“And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.”
1 Peter 4:18-19
