Change
Change
“and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
Revelation 22:19
Is change good or bad?
Some say it depends. But when it comes to the Bible - you can’t change that.
You can’t change what the Bible says to fit your life. You can try, but it won’t turn out well. Trust me, I know.
A lot of people read the Revelation and want it to pertain only to the book of Revelation. It doesn’t. Some will read the Bible and want to pervert it, change it or ignore it.
Some will twist and bend and ever-so-slightly manipulate the meaning of a word or verse to justify their desire or actions. They put a meaning or translation here or there, change a definition or alter the context.
You can’t. And you definitely shouldn’t.
The Bible is to be taken literally from cover to cover. Sure certain aspects of the Bible are applied in certain circumstances in our life - as those circumstances arise. You may not even use all of it. But it isn’t designed to be a “pick what you want” manual. It is THE manual for your life.
We are to pray over God’s Word and seek understanding. We are to ask the Holy Spirit for discernment.
Some say the Bible changes over time and that the meanings aren’t the same as they were 2,000 years ago.
Don’t listen to that. You will get watered-down biblical doctrine.
If you spend more time justifying your position, instead of adhering to the words of God in the Bible, you are wasting your time.
It’s so much easier to try and abide in the word of God than it is to manipulate it.
I spent too much time trying to justify my actions when the answers were easy to find. Applying them to your life may be a little harder, but the more we try the easier it will get.
God will bless your obedience to Him and your sacrifice to yourself.
Just stop trying to change what He meant.
Read His Word. Listen to the Holy Spirit. Live His Word.
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
2 Timothy 3:16 KJV
“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, Teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
Matthew 15:8-9
“Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, And attend to know understanding. For I give you good doctrine, Forsake ye not my law. For I was my father's son, Tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: Keep my commandments, and live. Get wisdom, get understanding: Forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: Love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: And with all thy getting get understanding.”
Proverbs 4:1-7 KJV
