Can You Escape Temptations? By Lucas

“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”

Most of us have faced temptations before. 

It’s a common thing the devil tries to throw at Christians. But a common question is, Can you escape temptation? The answer is, No.  There will always be something that is going to tempt you. But their is another way.

In Matthew 4:1-11 we see that Jesus went up into a mountain and the devil begins to tempt Him. Jesus hasn’t eaten in 40 days so the devil tempts him to turn the stones into bread. Jesus denies and the devil tempts him again and again until he gives up and leaves Jesus.

That story can teach us that even though we can’t escape temptations we can still overcome them. 

Their will always be someone or something to tempt us into sin.  It isn’t always something sinful that we can be tempted by though. Sometimes the devil uses objects that we might bring more attention to than God.  For example,  money, or if you’re young, toys. This is important to know so we can spot temptations and pass through them.

In the end their is still a lot more we can know about temptation, like why the devil tempts us, or who the devil targets with temptation. 

Just remember what Jesus told Satan, “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
