Pump Up The Volume (Part 2 of 3)
Pump Up The Volume
3-part series
Part 2 of 3
“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.”
2 Samuel 22:7
Yesterday I wrote about the danger of having the volume of God turned off. Usually a turned off volume is someone who is not “saved” or a believer or maybe they are and they are listening to God.
Today we are going to talk about having your volume turned on. When you turn the volume on you can just start to hear God. You start reading your Bible, you’re praying, you’re in church.
At this point you’re just starting. Or maybe you’ve been here for a long time. You’re there but you’re not all the way there yet.
You turned your life toward Christ, and you have every good intention of doing more, but it just doesn’t seem to go farther.
You read a few devotions here and there, you attend church and read your Bible there and you pray daily.
When the volume is on you’re strong in one area while the others might be neglected. You might be reading your Bible daily but have missed some church services. Or you pray daily but only open the Bible at church.
The volume is on, but not turned up. You have God in your life, but you’re not living for God. The day to day is the same, it just doesn’t point to a life that is centered on Christ. Others can’t hear what you’re listening to.
The good news is all you have to do is to keep turning the volume up.
Increase day by day. Read more, pray more, rely more on God and you will see a life that is centered around Jesus Christ.
I have struggled so much in the past two years. I easily mask it at times and other times I’m broken. I’m learning day to day on turning to God for my strength. It is so hard to look to God if we are looking at the world.
It’s hard when you have to go to work, manage a family, add in extra time here and there for other commitments, have hobbies, wanna rest and then fill the gaps with God.
I don’t have all of that and I still struggle.
If you place all of your emphasize on things that don’t focus on God, you will never hear Him. Your mind will be on all the things of this world, sporting events, friends, work, problems, etc.
It’s important to constantly turn up the volume once your turn it on, otherwise it will stay in one place. You have to turn the dial. No one else will do the work. No one else will put in the time. No one else can make your commitments and shift your focus. Only you can.
Learn how to turn on the volume to God now before you have to do it another way. I wish I would’ve.
