Excuses and Reasons.
Excuses and Reasons
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Mark 16:15
What’s the difference you might ask.
Excuses are given because you don’t have a reason. Excuses are the absence of a reason.
Satan will give you excuses, God will give you reasons.
I could end it here. But then again that wouldn’t be like me at all to keep it short.
We’ve all made excuses. We’ve come up short somewhere in life or let someone down and we’ve made an excuse. They are half-hearted, at best. Excuses are pretty much like a lie that has a little truth in it.
Excuses are usually why you can’t. “I can’t do this because.......”. “I shouldn’t because.......”. “I didn’t because.......”.
When you are living a life away from God your life is filled with excuses. I could list thousands of excuses I’ve made in my life up to this point. It’s pathetic really. And there’s no reason.
Reasons are solid, indisputable. Concrete. Formidable. Not always good, not always bad.
Reasons are the why. We give someone a reason and it means more. We tell them why we can. And if it is something we can’t do - the reason, not the excuse, makes all the difference in the world.
God can give us reasons. There is an entire Bible with reasons in it. Not excuses.
Excuses are the accidents and mistakes in our lives that we use because we are weak.
Reasons are the decisions, good and bad that we’ve made that have taught us, made us and forged us to be stronger.
Satan will place excuses in front of you in hopes that you will grab on and use them.
We own reasons. We rent excuses. Reasons are permanent. Excuses are temporary.
Excuses: I drink because of pain in my life. I am an adulterer because of my upbringing. I didn’t know any better.
Reasons: I don’t drink anymore because I have strength through Christ. I have faith in God that overcomes my fear. I’ve overcome my lustful desires because they are wrong.
Many times people give us excuses or make up excuses instead of doing something. Almost every single time I gave an excuse, I could’ve given a reason instead
Get the excuses out of your life and start putting reasons in it.
God can fill your life with reasons. Reasons why you should or shouldn’t do something based on God.
Not doing something isn’t always a negative. It can be a positive. Doing something isn’t always positive but can have positive results.
Put God at the front of your life.
Yes I put the verse in this devotion twice because I feel it is important for us to share our testimony of salvation with others.
God will not make excuses. Ever.
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
Mark 16:15
“For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”
Romans 9:15
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Isaiah 41:10
